Each year, data shows union members are the safest workers in the construction industry.
This is due to our commitment to safety.
In partnership between the Finishing Trades Institute of the Ohio Region (FTIOR), DC 6 and our signatory contractors, IUPAT DC 6 members regularly undergo industry leading OSHA safety training. This ensures both apprentices and journeymen can protect themselves from workplace dangers.
As many studies have shown, construction is a dangerous industry. However, it should not be. By following all safety guidelines, our members go home safely to their families after the end of their shift.
We strongly support and encourage our members to obtain updated certifications and training to achieve this goal. Safety training through the FTIOR should be ingrained in our members so they can work safely and also ensure their co-workers remain safe on the job, as well.
This is why apprentices learn not only how to work safely, but how to look out for others on the jobsite, who may not be following all the rules and endangering others. It is also reinforced during journeyman recertification courses too.
Besides keeping workers safe, OSHA training also helps our contractors keep their bottom line lower.
OSHA safety training keeps construction projects progressing efficiently with minimal downtime due to accidents and injuries, all of which helps reduce construction costs.
