Picture here is local 841 member Galen Whited, who received his 50 year watch and pin at the 841 January meeting. Galen has been a member for almost 51 years. He joined the local in 1964 and retired in 2004. He spoke of how things were when he joined. “When I joined in 1964 we didn’t have healthcare or a pension.” He was speaking of the fact that his local has made great strides in collectively bargaining in the last 50+ years. There is currently a great benefit package including healthcare and pension. This is in place because of the hard work and involvement of Galen and our brothers that fought along side him. Thanks for all you great years of service Galen and we hope for many more to come.
